Brace that looks like a banana
Hollow Hold
On your back. Ribs down. Arms and legs reach long so you look like a shallow banana. Your belt line stays glued. That is the hold.
Hunter: I would rather see 20 quiet seconds than a minute of flapping. If the low back peels up, I tuck the knees. I do not fake a gymnast shape.
Cues
- Low back pressed toward the floor. Not jammed. Quiet.
- Reach arms overhead, or keep them by your sides if that is the only way to stay glued.
- Legs long and a few inches off the floor, or knees bent to make it honest.
- Exhale. The belt line does not arch.
- Stop when the back peels, not when you panic.
Setup
Floor or mat. Phone where you can see a timer. Start with 15-25 seconds. Three sets. That is the finisher on Dorm Engine day, not a personality.
Dorm Engine day
After burpees and jacks, 3 holds. Log the seconds. This is not a sit-up contest. It is a brace you can take to a squat later.
Regress without shame
Tuck the knees. Shorten the arms. A smaller shape that stays glued beats a long shape that flaps. Next week, reach a little longer if the back stays quiet.
Hollow vs dead bug
Dead bugs are moving. Hollow is a hold. Both train the same idea: ribs down. Use both across a week. Do not rename one as the other in Engine.
Common misses
Only lifting the head. Letting the back turn into a hammock. Holding your breath. Kicking. Also: copying a full hollow from a clip when your ribs will not stay down.
FAQ
Hands by my sides?
Yes, if overhead makes your back peel. Log it the same. Reach longer later.
How long?
Until the line breaks. Match last week, then add a few seconds. Do not chase a minute because a video did.
Log hollow-hold time in the free Vitality Engine. Duration is the load.
