One bell, walk like the other side is loaded
Suitcase Carry
One bell. Walk. Do not lean into it. Do not lean away from it. You look like you are carrying a bag through a parking lot, not a circus.
Hunter: Job-site Day 3 lists these after farmer carries. I walk the same rectangle. If I tilt, I drop a plate. A lean is a different lift.
Cues
- Bell in one hand, hanging like a farmer. Shoulder packed down. No shrug.
- Stand tall. Ribs down. The empty side does not hike.
- Short steps. Eyes forward. You are not racing.
- If the torso folds toward the weight, you went too heavy.
- Set it down with a hinge. Switch hands. Same distance.
Setup
A dumbbell or kettlebell you can hold without leaning. Same path as a farmer carry. Time or distance. Pick one. 3 trips each side. Rest about a minute. If the floor is a maze, a short lane still counts.
After the farmer
Two bells is a farmer. One bell is a suitcase. The suitcase asks your side to stay tall without a matching load. That is the point on a job-site week. Log the name. Matching last week beats matching a screenshot of someone walking the whole parking lot.
How I track it
Same as the farmer: distance or time, not both in one month. Write the load and the side work. If one side is clearly weaker, that is information. Do not add 20 pounds to hide it.
If you only have one bell
This is the carry you can still do. Do both sides. Then you are done. You do not need a second implement because a feed said farmers only.
Common misses
Leaning. Hiking the empty shoulder. Racing so the bell swings. Shrugging. Also: logging both sides as one farmer carry. They are not the same.
FAQ
How heavy?
Heavy enough that you want to lean, then drop a little so you do not. Tall is the standard.
Overhead?
That is a waiter carry. Different. Log suitcase until you mean waiter.
Log suitcase carries in the free Vitality Engine. Load, side, distance or time. Pick one.
