Hinge on one side
Single-Leg Glute Bridge
One foot on the floor. Drive through that heel. Hips stay square. The other leg does not thrash. That is a hinge you can do on a dorm rug.
Hunter: I only do these after the two-leg bridge looks quiet. If my hips spin like a boat, I go back to two legs. Pride is not a set.
Cues
- Start with both feet. Then extend one leg, or keep that knee bent in the air.
- Ribs down. Chin tucked a little.
- Drive the planted heel. Squeeze at the top. Hips level.
- Pause a beat. Do not throw the ribs at the ceiling.
- Lower under control. Switch. Count each side.
Setup
Floor or mat. Arms by your sides. If the hips twist, shorten the range or go back to two legs. A backpack on the hips is later. Log bodyweight first.
After the two-leg bridge
Dorm legs day lists these after reverse lunges. 3 sets of 8-12 each side. If week one of glute bridges is still shaky, stay on two legs. Engine should see the name you actually did.
Then a loaded thrust
When both sides look quiet, a barbell hip thrust is the gym version with a number. Do not jump there because a feed said single-leg is advanced. Earn the squeeze first.
How I count them
Each side is a set of reps, not a combined mystery number. If the left is weaker, log the same count and stop when the line breaks. Matching last week beats matching a screenshot.
Common misses
Pushing through the toes. Rotating the hip of the working side. Overarching to fake height. Tiny pulses. Also: rushing so one side gets 12 ugly reps and the other gets 6.
FAQ
Leg straight or bent?
Bent in the air is easier. Straight is harder. Pick one for a month.
Should I hold the top?
A beat is enough. A 10-second flex contest is not the lift.
